Interesting moments at the Shanghai Fashion Market
As I was going through DVDs today, figuring out what to buy, I noticed that they had a DVD cover for Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. It looked really good, with photos on the back and a summary (and recommendations), too. I thought for a moment and said, “Hey, this movie isn’t even released yet.” My salesperson looked at me and deadpanned: “Yes, there is a different movie in that one.” Needless to say, I didn’t buy.
My colleague was looking at iPods which were incredibly cheap. He asked the salesperson, “Are these fakes?” “Of course these are not real,” was the reply. He didn’t buy.
I was walking down an aisle ignoring people hawking wares when one person grabbed my wrist and said, “Oh, your watch. We have a watch just like this,” and pulled me into his shop. He then proceeded to show me watches that were nothing like mine, but said, hopefully, “See, they all tell time.”
My colleague was looking at watches, as well, for himself when a salesperson asked, “You like ladies?” He meant, did he want to look at Ladies’ watches. My colleague said, “No, I don’t like ladies.” I couldn’t stop laughing.
