SCOOP- Second corrections officer relieved of duty in a week
A second Milwaukee County Corrections Officer (not a deputy) was relieved of duty under allegations the officer has had a relationship with an inmate.
This is the second such instance of misconduct in office by a corrections officer this week — the first being the arrest of a Corrections Officer assigned to the classification unit at the criminal justice facility. The type of formal discipline has yet to be determined.
To date, the Sheriff’s department has not posted a press release on either case.

You won’t find much being said about the CO’s “officially” because this is one of King David’s pet projects. He insists he is saving money by putting unsworn corrections officers into jail positions instead of sworn deputies. Problem is that some of the positions he is putting them in, like booking and release, really do require a sworn officer. CO’s cannot arrest people, so when something goes wrong, they have to get a deputy. Additionally, the background check to be a CO is much less rigorous that to become a deputy, which is why they have hired the kind of people that would have relationships with inmates.
But of course, the project is successful. Look at all the money he is saving. (Think he learned a thing or two from Scott Walker??)
