County Exec Walker once again supports concealed guns in church
The Dem’s came out with a whack at Gubernatorial hopeful Scott Walker today pointing out that Walker has once again announced support for concealed weapons despite his opposition to them when he ran for County Exec — and oh yeah, before he opposed guns in church, he supported them in church.
By now your brain is probably hurting but we’re not exagerating. Here’s Walker’s record according to the DPW:
Back in 1999, when Walker was a representative in the State Assembly, he co-sponsored a bill to allow concealed weapons in Wisconsin.
… in 2001, Walker did not sign on to a nearly identical bill. And when the concealed carry legislation came up for a vote in the Assembly in early 2002, Walker voted against the bill.
Now that Scott Walker is running for Governor – and trying to win enough of the Republican base to prevail over his GOP opponent Mark Green – Walker is once again a staunch supporter of concealed carry.
Remember when Presidential Candidate John Kerry got fried for flip-flopping? The now infamous comment that goes something like “I voted for it AFTER I voted against it”. The Walker version would be more like “I support it now but I didn’t support it before, but before that I supported it”.
Look for the GOP to sport its consisent version of double standards should Walker get the nod in the primary.

Can anyone put forth an argument as to WHY guns shouldn’t be allowed in Church?
Someone not going to like a sermon?
And wouldn’t discharge of said gun be illegal anyway?
I know. I know. Tell me how they can’t discharge the gun if they don’t have it in the first place…
Sue — I assume most churches would prefer that the state stay out of the business of worship. Hypothetically, if you had a church that allowed legal gun owners to take their guns to the altar, and the congregation approved, to interfere would violate their religious freedoms.
But as we know, imposing on people’s freedoms from the right is okay as long as it is the freedoms of “other” people being imposed.
I’m sure the NRA will support Green. Walker still hasn’t connected to that very conservative base, and his flip-flopping can only hurt.
More problematic: The senate vote on conceal and carry was veto proof. Doyle may not be able to stop it.
Are you suggesting that the Left is now concerned with protecting the freedoms of churches?
God is not exclusively for the right-wingers.
Jesus was on the left — why wouldn’t the left of today want to protect churches? Martin Luther King was also on the left.
Those that follow the teachings of the Bible are clearly on the left. Just because those on the right have bastardized and twisted the good word doesn’t mean they own it.
Of course the left is concerned about protecting religious freedoms, including the right not to worship anything, and certainly not in a group.
No one who’s truly concerned about liberty in this country wants the state meddling about in people’s churches. Now to get the religious right to stop forcing their personal religious beliefs on the people’s state.
Or the Left forcing their religious beliefs on us…

I don’t buy it. Their website doesn’t have this image you claim and knowing what can be done with graphics, it looks like you’ve posted a spoof.
If you want to look to hatred of religion, you should focus more on the right. They seem to reject nearly all of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
In the Republican version of the bible, the Samaritan must have been whining about taxes instead of clothing the poor and feeding the hungry.

Foot. This is Mouth. Mouth. This is Foot.

And the point is?
Cross: Entirely juvenile to mess with somebody’s religious symbol.
The Flames: It was the Texas hold ‘em blogger who decided they were the flames of hell.
The word hypocrites: A statement no doubt relating to the far right’s attempts to force their religion upon the people’s state.
I still don’t see the Left in Washington forcing their religious beliefs on the state of Washington. It’s an obnoxious pin.
What I do see is the right whining over the smallest of slights while the Republican Party tramples over people’s rights of privacy, equal protection under the law, freedom of expression and more, even as they merrily conduct voter purges and work to dismantle our progressive traditions in hopes of getting away with it all.
New topic, please and OK?
Did anybody see that the manager of the Scott Walker for Governor campaign, Bruce Pfaff, got a property tax reduction of $308.90 this year, a reduction of 5.61 percent? Mark Belling got a reduction of $448.58.
