Pro-Censorship CRG affiliate says: “We need more intolerance”
Un-friggin-believable.
Last night, Stan Zurawski, an unsuccessful Mayoral candidate and one of the founders of Tosans for Responsible Government, held a meeting to bring attention to products they found offensive at Mayfair Mall.
Here’s the thing — in a normal world this sort of thing wouldn’t merit media coverage but we’re living in a world where egomaniacal press hounds like Zurawski are given legitimacy by our mainstream media.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel covered the story (Obscenity, censorship debated), and here’s what they had to say:
About 30 people attended the session called by conservative political activist and unsuccessful mayoral candidate Stanley Zurawski Sr. and his wife, Betty.
The couple, members of the group Tosans for Responsible Government, says they want Mayfair Mall to prohibit stores from displaying or selling “offensive” items - from thongs at Victoria’s Secret to sex toys at Spencer Gifts and T-shirts critical of President Bush - to anyone under the age of 18.
“We need more intolerance,” said Zurawski, standing before rows of grainy photographs of scantily clad women and other sexually suggestive material available at some mall stores.
Zurawski is best remembered as the unsuccessful Wauwatosa Mayoral candidate of a few years ago who said the MMSD detention pond project would cause the county grounds to be a receptical for sewage. To date there have been no problems with sewage there. The scary thing is that Zurawski actually garnered a ton of votes.
Being out of the spotlight doesn’t make Zurawski very happy so now he’s crusading against what he describes as porn at Mayfair. If it is porn Zurawski is after, what connection does the anti-Bush t-shirt have to his crusade?

What totally cracks me up about this, other than the way-too-obvious anti-bush anti-porn joke here, is that while the Zurawskis are busily shopping for “naughties” at Mayfair, they have not yet brought up some of the “entertainment” that shows up on the big screens of the AMC Cinema at Mayfair. Heck, the mannequins in the Victoria’s Secret window are wearing more than your average teen movie star these days! But I bet Stan & Betty were at home, busily trying out their purchases after the Tosa meeting and never got a chance to catch a flick.
If they have their say, some day we’ll be rocking on the porch, saying, “Gosh, remember the good old days when people were tolerant?”
Whoa, that was a REALLY scary picture that popped into my head. I’d better go find a weed whacker and get it out of there.
Stan,
You are another fine example of someone trying to force their veiws on everyone else. What’s the matter can’t you find anything at victoria’s secret to fit you. Why don’t don’t you just stick to loosing elections, nobody wanted you then and no one cares what you think now.
