Clarke Fools the Journal-Sentinel & Public On Airport Safety
It's one thing to make a real effort to keep the public safe. It's another to try to fool the public into thinking all resources are being used to keep us safe when they're not.
Watchdog Milwaukee has learned that under the leadership of Sheriff David Clarke Jr., both the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel as well as the public were duped by a clever but sly effort to provide a false sense of security at the airport while at the same time fool the public into thinking Clarke's Sheriff's Department was running smoothly following the recent foiled terrorist plot in the UK.
In a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel column entitled Mitchell rallies its security resources, columnist RAQUEL RUTLEDGE wrote about several of the security measures that were being instituted at the airport in order to increase security. Unfortunately, Rutledge's story was coupled with a photo from JS Photographer Jack Orton who showed a deputy diligently patrolling the airport with a canine unit — leaving the impression that the dog was a bomb sniffing dog and Deputy Chuck Malek was his handler. The problem is that Malek is not his handler and in fact Malek doesn't even have k-9 training. While the public and Orton were assuming the dog and his handler were safeguarding the airport, Malek was doing little more than taking the dog for a walk through the airport.
But it wasn't just Rutledge and Orton who were duped. Two other reporters who contributed to the story now have mud on their faces as do the editors of the news desk.

HA! And finally in the grand scheme of things, a TRUTH about Jester Dave\’s 3 ring circus. I\’m glad to finally read that something the Milwaukee Urinal wrote that was complete crap. Way to go Dave — screw with the news source that has been protecting and promoting you! THAT is the cake right there. Now MAYBE the Urinal will think twice about promoting this two faced, money spending, political blunder. Say, what are the odds that the Urinal will write a CORRECTION??
appleton 14 — time for you to understand you little friend is one big screw up and that is the truth. Get out from behind the big wool sheet that has been pulled over your head and see what really go on in the world. Well maybe start with the county you live in!!
Appleton 14- The only good Dave is interested in promoting is his own. Every move this guy makes is in his own best interest, not the county, not his department, not the public. The thing he is best at is posing. This man told his deputies that he has a vision and he did not need to share it with them, they were to just do as they were told and not ask questions. He has repeatedly publicly humiliated many of his deputies, and each time has ended with egg all over his face, lied repeatedly to the public, and his deputies, disregarded the code of ethics for his department,seemingly because not only is he the law, but also above it. Dave has screwed up so badly Lev Baldwin wrote a public apology for putting him in charge of the Department, Lev said himself it was a huge error on his part. Can the county of Milwaukee do better with a new sheriff, YES, because it cannot possibly get any worse.
Numbers are dwindling on the department where Clarke has the public thinking we are truly out there. He has Freeway deputies doing saturation enforcements in high traffic areas and times to make it appear as if there are a lot of Deputies out there. Some nights you are lucky if you have a handful on duty. And the Safe and secure Airport squads are being taken away from Airport Duties to perform routine Freeway patrol functions. All smoke and mirrors. As for his claim of accountability, he can say he has made deputies more accountable just because he is forcing his command staff to find almost all complaints to be true, even when the complaint is not true or worthless in nature.

got rid of - 200 Law Enforcement officers in exchange for correctional officers, less deputies on the freeway, selling the only Law Enforcement Helicopter in SE WI if not all, grounding the boat and about to sell it till plane crashes in Lake Michigan(still not in water regularly), eliminating Park patrol (renaming his grip unit to parks when murder happens in a park, then putting deputies at lakefront where voting public goes, and not at park where murder happened.)
giving Away Miller Park patrols to his former department MPD by overbiding it. Cost to taxpayers for this - nothing as Brewers footed the security bill. Only hurt his deputies who he despises.”headless nails”
