CRG Sheboygan: Angry and Spiteful Group
I can't say I'm tied in to the inner workings of Sheboygan politics but in that beautiful city to our north they're experiencing something we've known about for quite a while — Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG) is not motivated by responsibility, they're motivated by anger and spite. Their Mayor, Juan Perez, is going through the process of a recall and many are pointing out that the real motivation is that Perez leans democratic. Since CRG never met a democrat they liked, it stands to reason that they would oppose Perez.
One reader to the Sheboygan Press, Suzanne Speltz, wrote in an editorial entitled, Recall of Mayor appears to be work of spiteful, angry group. Here's a snippet:
The group that calls themselves advocates for responsible government appear to be acting irresponsibly. Do they have motives that are self-serving? Is this the work of a vocal minority?
We do live in America and have the right to express our views and opinions and bring to the surface actions of elected officials we feel are wrong. However, this recall project is not in the best interest of the citizens of Sheboygan.
Our politicians should not be distracted by these vindictive antics. They should be able to put their efforts into working on important issues for the city. This group is wasting people's time, money, energy and resources.
Disappointing also are the people who have launched racist and vulgar verbal attacks against Juan and his family. This behavior is unacceptable and an embarrassment to our city.
One would hope our community could be a place that embraces diversity. Sheboygan has many wonderful things to offer. We do not need to function as a slandering playground.
You have to wonder when these clowns from CRG are going to get the fact that people are sick of spending their tax dollars on these special elections because these sore losers can't win in a regular election. It will be interesting to see if Sheboygan voters fuel CRG's fires of hate or if they turn back the recall effort for what it really is — an effort by people who lost to have a "do over" in a special election when they know the voter turnout will be much lower and the people who will be primarily motivated to vote are the angry people.
