I have said it before and will say it again, this is all about political expediency. Where were these so-called tolerant conservatives when the marriage issue was before the legislature? No where to be found, is the answer. But now that it is set to be voted on during the main election (when base Republicans can be expected to come out in droves), they feel safe to make believe they aren't so sure which way they will vote.
