Fred Thompson’s love of Scooter Libby and Lobbying for Asbestos
I’m a little amazed that Republicans are so giddy about the potential for TV star Fred Thompson to be their candidate.
Here’s a guy who offered to host a fundraiser for convicted felon Scooter Libby (yes, he’s the guy in the news who lied under oath to a federal grand jury) and said he would pardon him if he were President.
Thompson has also worked on limiting liability claims for asbestos companies.
You would think that the GOP would have learned their lesson last year but no, they appear to be poised to nominate a guy who works to protect companies that kill people.
What are they thinking?

I’d vote for Thompson–or any candidate–who would pardon Libby. He deserves it. Before you cry about a Libbly pardon, look at the list of real criminals pardoned by Clinton.
And as this is still America, I’d say that the asbestos industry has a right to petition the government; that doesn’t mean the government needs to listen. What was the issue?
If this is the best you can do on Thompson, you liberals are in big, big trouble.

Chrissy you ignorant history-challenged sap, they OWN THE GOVERNMENT! Along with the hundreds of globalist mega-corporations. Ordinary people have no say in Washington. You know that, I know that.
The GOP is hot on (Fred) Thompson because they think he 1) “looks like a president” and 2) is as sweet and cuddly as he appears on Law & Order.
In fact, I’ve spoken with Democrats who thought they might vote for him because of what he was like on Law & Order. Hell, I’d vote for him if he was the guy on Law & Order… but he’s not.
He’s a conservative’s conservative. Nothing redeeming about that. At least not in my mind.
Oh, and, Christopher? Of course Bill Clinton pardoned criminals. If they weren’t criminals, they wouldn’t need a pardon.
