Lena Taylor for Exec? Sure, why not.
So I’m considering the pluses and the minuses here for State Senator Lena Taylor’s announcement that she’s running against incumbent Scott Walker for the position of County Exec.
At first thought about their similarities. Both were in the State Assembly. Both love to be the spotlight of attention. Both have been known to say some pretty outrageous stuff. Walker was a boy scout. Taylor was a girl scout and is on the boy scout advisory board. But the similarities end there.
Scott Walker dropped out of college. Lena Taylor graduated from college and went on to graduate from law school.

Well I hope she does better as county exec than her present position because to me she about appearance only and not action. And she surely doesn’t anwser her mail not her or her staff, as she stated when their was a town hall meeting at McGovern park about Alphonso Graham and they way he’s not anwsering his mail and his parole/grant recommendation. So Lena Taylor should practice what she preach because she was awesome in her every comments to Graham now what happen you don’t have lights camera action. But believe me you won’t get my vote
Ah! Diplomas are the crucial difference. Will you consistently apply this to all candidates? A dropped out. B never went….
ELECTED CANDIDATE LENA TAYLOR for Milwaukee County Executive, April 1st.
I think it is just great that we have a candidate that exhibits energy, strength, knowledge of the issues, an on-issue debater, present history in our state senate and a doer.
Candidate Taylor - Senator Lena Taylor, is a “change agent”. She speaks for her constituents - a quality so lacking today in politicians. She’s out at the meetings, working in our legislature, bringing home the bacon for her constituents, debating the issues, calling the points, doing her homework, reaching across the isle; and, making a difference. All the while, she is raising a son as a single parent.
She has her style and it serves her well.
I support her because she is “ON-THE-JOB” every time I see her; and, that is a lot in the public discourse.
I think/firmly feel she will be great for our county government.
Our county government is in “stalemate” and “no response”; therefore, lacking in substantive leadership and services for the people.
County Executive Scott Walker came in on the back of his predecessor Ament with “one issue” and that’s where he has remained. He has failed to be proactive, responsive and respond to questions, concerns and due diligence.
He has allowed quality of life and economic development to plummet further into disconnect. Speaking of disconnect, he has been “disconnected” with the citizenry.
Under his watch we look at the parks poor performance, and his missing in action lack of concerned leadership that frequently “passes the buck”.
The park system and the county transit system are two of the greatest assets of Milwaukee County. Its new leadership in the “parks” and “transit” have made draconian cuts, layoffs and shown disrespect to the taxpayers. The contracts and slice dice politics has left a bad taste in our mouth.
The lack of best practices and lack of true progressive leadership by the park system and the transit system speaks loudly about the progress of County Executive Walker.
Closing of privileges for the county parks, upkeep of the property, lake front duck-and-dodge closing, drastic changes and lay-offs with no real solutions, cronyism in strategic planning and appointments; his punitive efforts rather than true solutions to social responsibilities of his office and not reaching out to Milwaukeeans of Color and the Working Poor - seniors, homeless, mental health, child care providers, parents, foster care and technology leads the list in my disappointment in his leadership. I was a supporter and voter for Walker last time around. He has been a huge disappointment.
We need “energy”, “leadership”, “commitment for the entire constituents”, “change-with-solutions” and “compassion”, Candidate Lena Taylor is that person.

Another thing that cranks me about Scott Walker is (I used to work for the county sheriffs dept) that he has really done nothing to enhance the public safety through our sheriffs dept. That being that the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs Association has endorsed Walker (At the time was the only county union to do so) and Walker has snubbed his nose at the sheriffs department by not hiring a deputy in 5 plus years. This shows me that Walker is all abount nothing but ending county government. Yes I would give Lena Taylor a nod to try and dig the county out of its present hole. Its what the county needs, leaders that are really conected to the comunity and not an outsider.
I think its pretty irresponsible to simply cite that Walker dropped out of college. He was in his senior year and decided that he could make his mark on the world without a degree and he became a fund-raiser for the red cross. Liberal or conservative, I don’t know how you can disrespect someone who answers that call.
