Sometimes you read an article and you’re just left shaking your head at either what happened or what almost happened.

This was the case a few weeks ago when Attorney Peter Earle was wisely elected to serve on the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Board of Directors. Earle, whose nomination was opposed by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, is a veteran member of the MATC Board.

Here’s the crazy part. The best person MMAC could get to run against Earle was Sean McGowan of the Tramont Corporation. McGowan may very well be a great CEO, but he should really focus on his work at Tramont. According to the MJS, McGowan “couldn’t answer a question about the college’s value to taxpayers” and actually said “I’m not qualified to answer that question because I’m not informed … but I’m a quick study”.
