Where in the World is Jim McGuigan?
Over the last decade I’ve come to realize that international travel is extremely valuable. If I had nothing else to compare it to, how would I know how backward our transportation, land and water use policies are? Or how upside down our approach to politically influencing corporate entities is?
So today I start a new category - The World - which will focus on parts of the world I’ve traveled to and allow our readers to guess where I am. Clues will get more focused as my vacation draws to an end.
So here are today’s clues (hopefully they won’t be too obvious).
I’m in one of the largest cities in the world, home to one of the fastest growing economies on the globe. To understand the changes in this country over the past ten years, you need only to visit this city.
Where am I?

Jim McGuigan, Where in the World?
You are in Dublin.
At the International Bar. In the corner by the door.
Good guess Tom, but I was in Shanghai. To understand the last 100 years of China you need to go to Beijing.
Awesome. I want to implement their land use plans. That would be great for Milwaukee. We could bulldoze the city back to about 10 square miles and buld bigger suburbs around it for the rest of us who dont want to live there.
By the way, go to Bejing, you’ll enjoy the incredible freedom and liberty there.
