The unfortunate thing is, McGuigan, you actually believe that your list here is what conservatives believe.

And that, Jim, is why dialogue with people like you won't ever work. You paint with broad strokes and fail to see the forest from the trees.

Last I checked, whatever his shortcomings were (I don't know, I wasn't in the room with the blue dress on), Bill Clinton had a fairly productive relationship with the GOP-controlled Congress. They sent him balanced budgets, they gave him the Line Item Veto, they reformed Welfare...

Gingrich, Armey, Watts all represented what conservative Republicans should be. This batch in Congress should be ran out on a rail for abandoning their principles and you won't soon hear any conservative say that the next GOP nominee for President should be like George Bush (Just as your side doesn't want Kerry to run again - rather lament the loss of Feingold in the nominating field). You'd do well to keep in mind that nothing made the Contract With America that didn't poll at least 60 percent. Flag burning, DOMA, immigration reform didn't even register on radar yet this Congress spent too much time on these issues.

Dems didn't win last week; Republicans lost.
