The primary is over and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has emerged as the "Democrat" who will take on Republican Don Holt.

Turning our eyes to the general, it may be time to support the Republican candidate, Don Holt, over the faux-Democrat, David Clarke.  Holt has the experience that is needed and the respect of his peers.

We'll be keeping a close eye on this race in the coming weeks but there is no reason to think that Clarke will turn over a new leaf.  His abysmal running of the jail, his heavy handed tactics and unwillingness to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong in his department have been his hallmarks. 

A change would be welcome and Holt's no nonsense approach may just be the medicine that is needed to cure what ails our Sheriff's Department.
