Electoral Valium or Viagra? Dem Strategies Uncoordinated
It’s most obvious on the national scene, but Wisconsin dems aren’t exactly stepping up to realize they’re the opposition in the legislature. Wisconsin’s own Senator, Russ Feingold would like to change that.
Feingold has made some bold statements and is pushing a resolution to get us out of Iraq by this time next year. At the same time, a few other dems are busy working out a strategy to be Republican-lite by saying they don’t want a date specific. Why? Because they think otherwise they’ll get smoked in the elections again. What they don’t realize is that they’re already in the minority. If they don’t strut their stuff and give Americans a reason to make a change, dems will see more losses.
Let’s hope that those who are running for office who aren’t already in will recognize that it’s important to show a difference between the parties. If 2500 dead soldiers (who died fighting for a war based on a fictional premise) isn’t enough of a reminder to voters that it’s time to make a change, you have to wonder what will? Unfortunately some dems are lying down with the GOP on this issue and it makes the GOP downright giddy.
If political parties were pharmaceutical companies, Feingold would be pumping viagra while others like Carl Levin would be pumping valium. Most would agree that viagra is more fun.
POST FALL ELECTION UPDATE: Dems pulled it together with an impressive win by saying no to republican-lite policies.
