Gerald Ford, James Brown and Saddam Hussein
What do an ex-President of the United States, the Godfather of Soul and a middle eastern dictator have in common?
They all died last week.
Gerald Ford may best be remembered as the man who took office after the late Richard Nixon was about to be impeached. Ford pardoned Nixon which will forever be burned in the minds of Americans who wanted Nixon to pay for his wrongdoings but many will remember Ford for being a quiet ex-President — reserving his commentary on public affairs for the most part for those items which most impacted out country. For instance, Ford spoke against the war in Iraq stating we should have focused on Afghanistan where the terrorists were.
James Brown, also known as the Godfather of Soul, also passed away. Brown put out some of the best dancing music known to man but it's tough to reminisce about him without remembering his wife beating history.
Saddam Hussein — what can we say except he murdered thousands of Iraqi citizens and he deserved to be put to death for war crimes.

Nixon was not impeached. Articles of Impeachment had been drafted and were in the Judicary Committee in the House, but had not been voted on when Nixon resigned.
True. Nixon resigned. However, I was going to mention that Ford spoke out against the war in Iraq, but in an interview which it was agreed would not become public until after his death. Thanks, Bob Woodward!
