Nude Calendar for Humane Society of Jefferson County
You probably didn't know this about me but I'm a big animal lover. Specifically dachshunds. I'm one of only two volunteers in Milwaukee County for Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue.
I estimate that I've taken in and adopted out nearly 70 dogs in the last 4 years. Often times they're just in my home for a day before I find various foster homes to care for them. I'll find good homes for the dogs and it means that they don't have to get put to sleep.
I act as a resource for shelters including the Jefferson County Humane Society.
They did something that I think is both creative and hilarious. They created a clothes-free (nude) calendar of their volunteers with animals strategically placed so as to not exceed what would be an R rating. They call it the "Bare because we Care" calendar.
It's a gutsy move but it was done in an effort to raise money to spay and neuter animals they adopt out.
Kudos to my friends at the Jefferson County Humane Society.

I find the term ‘tastefully nude’ to be an oxymoron. Have we, in the fund-raising community, gotten so lazy with creative ideas that we have to lean on the idea that ’sex sells’?
I’m inundated with sex and nudity in the media DAILY. Can I just, for once, catch a break?
Nudity isn’t sex nor should people be ashamed of nudity. You can see more on TV shows like Nip Tuck than you can see on this calendar. I didn’t see the whole thing but of the photo or two they did have on their website, it seemed to be well done.
Maybe if we glorified nudity and sex and demonized violence we would not have the Columbine and Virgina Tech problems. We are now living with a generation that has been raised on violent TV, video and games, go figure DUH.
haha blaming it on tv, video and games. It’s called bad parenting, scapegoating doesn’t help.
