Perfecto Rivera and his pitiful run for Congress
This fall Perfecto Rivera, a Republican activist and CRG flack, is hoping to take on Milwaukee's own Congresswoman Gwen Moore.
All indications are that he's struggling to get the required signatures to get on the ballot not only because it's a fruitless run but because Perfecto is neither liked nor respected. He seems like a decent enough guy until you start to find out what he stands for and only then do you discover that he's a hugely partisan right winger.
This weekend I had an odd experience. While relaxing at the pitch after a hurling game, one of the other people there was walking around fishing for nomination signatures for Perfecto and was almost begging people to sign to get him on the ballot. Her pitch went like this "I don't believe anyone ought to run unopposed for office ever". You would expect a booster to say something like, "he's a good guy because of X, Y and Z" but no, all she could say about Perfecto is that he's running for Congress and he deserves to be on the ballot because he wants to run against Gwen Moore.
Weak.
If that's the best that even his most strident supporters can do, well let's just say that Perfecto needs a little political viagra.
