Walker Nominates Uebelacker, a known CRG liar, to head ethics board
He’s a cancer that started rotting Brown Deer politics and whose influence quickly metasticized to other parts of Milwaukee County. To further his political agenda, he has penned decieptful editorials in CNI’s Northshore Herald and that paper has been forced to run corrections because they didn’t check his claims first.
We’re talking about Don Uebelacker, one of the founders of Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG), the overtly partisan Republican shill group who is on record as having the goal of defeating sitting Democratic Governor Jim Doyle.
Now, County Executive Scott Walker has nominated Uebelacker to head the ethics board. Apparently, according to Walker, ethics are not required to head the ethics board.
The ethics board oversees behavior of elected officials and is supposed to work to make sure that elected County officials are not acting on issues where they have a conflict of interest. Is it possible for there to be more of a conflict of interest than to nominate someone whose hate-mongering and active political work has been focused on tearing down individuals who disagree with County Executive Scott Walker? Shouldn’t a person who is nominated to head the ethics board have at least an air of impartiality?
This nomination is one that should not be taken lightly. The Chairman of the Ethics board can pen letters as an official who is supposed to be politically neutral. If those letters make accusations or question ethical behavior of anyone who is running for office, a person like Uebelacker clearly would deliver the letters he himself penned to the political opposition. If the County Board confirms the Uebelacker nomination, voters can expect accusing letters against candidates for political office who oppose the agenda of County Executive Scott Walker.
This is a not a simple nomination to a committee that will have no political influence. We’re not talking about a committee that will decide about the placement of a fountain or a revised traffic flow plan. We’re talking about a position that can be one of the most powerful positions in Milwaukee County and that position cannot be taken lightly.
Don Uebelacker has shown, time and time again, his willingness to take liberties with the truth. He has posed accusing questions in candidate forums that have no basis in reality. He has helped bully through his personal agenda and has used the thuggery of CRG to upend the democratic structure in Milwaukee County.
Good people have already been hurt by Uebelacker but for the County Board to confirm Walker’s nomination and reward Uebelacker’s bad behavior would be to invite the fox into the henhouse.
Political predators like Uebelacker deserve no honor or acceptance in a legitimate seat in government.

“Cancer”, “rotting”, golly gee Jim, I thought you had a policy against personal attacks on your blog. Thanks for proving my point.
Cancer is a fast spreading disease that infects and can even kill its host. Your organization, CRG, is a cancer that has rotted away at the democracy of Milwaukee County.
And yes, members of your organization are the cells that make up the cancer. A single cancerous cell can multiply and even kill. What Milwaukee County needs is a couple good doses of electoral chemotherapy and in the last spring election it got its first treatment. That’s not to say that the cancer is cured. After all, you’re still trolling around the internet and attempting to spread with some success but with several failures.
You see Chris, the body has a tendency to develop an immune system that can fight off diseases or to at least keep them suppressed. I like to think of you and your group as prostate cancer. By the time every man hits about 70 he has some sort of prostate cancer but it simply sits there and you live with it as long as it doesn’t affect your everyday life. It’s the flare ups that threaten ones health.
