Don’t Drive if you Don’t have to

I took the evening off.

Just an hour ago I saw a car in the middle lane of the freeway change lanes to the left lane and proceeded to keep on going. The car bounced off of the cement median separating the two lanes on I-45. It was horrible.

There were at least three times I thought I would meet the same sort of fate when I temporarily lost control.

The freeways are in horrible condition. I didn’t see one solitary salt truck or snow plow out there (thank you Scott Walker) and I didn’t see any on the city or village streets either.

There may only be three inches of snow on the ground but it is super wet and super slippery. Perhaps the last few months of not having any snowfall has softened the driving skills of Wisconsin drivers but I saw way too many spin outs to feel anywhere near safe on the road. If you can stay home, please do.

Keep in mind that we’re supposed to get about another 4 inches before this is all done. Fortunately it will be warming up fairly quick so there’s no way I’ll be caught with a snow shovel when mother nature will be clearing my driveway within 2 or 3 days.

Note: As temps rose and roads cleared, it became apparent that the slipping was a temp thing so I worked after all.
