GOOD MORNING CHRISTOPHER THOMAS

I hate theological discussions under the guise of politics or business (i.e. godless liberals, hypocritical conservatives, Christian-based companies)...It seems out of sorts and demeaning...I don't believe that individual faith should be used as a political football or marketing tool...BUT I have to respond to your quote "we refuse to help 'the least' but rather doubt their sincerity"...Matthew 25 makes no mention of the worthiness or unworthiness of the recipients of generosity and unselfishness...it speaks only to the givers and their responsibility...if the receiver is insincere, that's their problem and they will have to individually answer for their conduct...Just as the tax collector in Luke 18 (Thanks for the passage, I read it this a.m.)...

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!! GO BADGERS!!!!

Matthew 6:5

When you pray, don't be like hypocrites. They like to stand in synagogues and on street corners to pray so that everyone can see them

Vince Lombardi Vince 1:1
"It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules - but to win.

I'm not 'affiliated' with any religion, nor do i wish to be. So my guess is that these are passages from a religious article of sorts. The point, as Mr. Thomas stated is that becoming religious to 'save face' is complete bull. Religion and crime DON'T mix. Should a criminal be less guilty because they are Catholic or Muslim etc? Should a judge pass a lessor sentence because the criminal claims to 'have seen the light?' I would hope that someday B.S. claims of religion work against criminals and not for them.

Mortified Resident:

Nice quote. But the point is not that we refuse to help "the least" but rather we doubt their sincerity. The more appropriate passage to quote would be about the Pharisses who Jesus rebuked for praying loudly and only for show. I don't remember the verse; I'm sure you might know it better that I do. As for the republican right, I'm sure you'll note that statistics demonstrate that they donate more time and money to charities than the "progressive left" and certainly care much more deeply for the words of the Bible than Vick.

Jesus hung around whores, money changers and was crucified with common thieves. Not much has changed after a couple of millenia.

Vick, Vitter, Craig and the rest of their ilk are pathetic. For the latter two jerks this is what the post-modern Republican world view has sunken-to; pandering to the least common denominator.

"For I was imprisoned and you visited me"...I'm paraphasing Matthew 26...the verse which also says (again I paraphase)"If you do this for the least of my bretheren, you have done it for me"...Begs the question...What has Craig, Vitter, and the rest of the republican right done for the lesser bretheren lately???
Just wondering!

from my experience 98% of incarcerated people find 'god'. It's too bad they didn't find him/her on the outside, then maybe they wouldn't be inside. Make me wonder, is Jesus a Warden?

Both Bill and Jim are right. What they really mean when they say they've found Jesus is that they've found fear. Jesus is not fear, and people like Vick and Craig who make these claims only seem more pathetic.

I agree with you on this one, Jim. All though none of us are perfect, if they claim to be Christians, they should at least try to act like it. It is easy to "find Jesus" when your sentence depends on it.
