Robson Ousted from Leadership Position
Should it shock anyone?
I’d like to think the answer is no but I was a bit surprised when I heard today that the Wisconsin’s State Senate Democrats voted to remove State Senator Judy Robson from her position as Majority Leader.
I’ll premise my comments by saying that I believe that Robson is a decent person who votes the right way as a Senator. However, she hasn’t shown herself to be either an effective minority leader, nor majority leader.
Under Robson the democrats caved tremendously on the budget. Under the misguided leadership of Robson and her sidekick Russ Decker, Democrats gave up nearly everything in the budget that separated the democrats from the republicans. The obstructionist republicans in the Assembly are not without blame but it was Robson who allowed them to control the debate. Rather than act as the majority leader and drive the agenda, Robson pursued a policy of appeasement. The beneficiaries of these misguided policies are the Republicans.
Senate Democrats who had the courage to make the change, whoever they are, should be congratulated.

On a personal note, please keep my nephew Christopher in your prayers. He is a firefighter just east of San Diego. The wildfires there are so bad that he describes them as the worst he has ever seen and they won’t stop until the fire reaches the ocean.

Poor Judy! Her mini-term in power may be a record for futility. In this budget cycle, the Democrats pleased their donors and left the rest of the state to hang out to dry. Shame on all concerned. Robson’s real problem is that she represents herself and not the needs of her constituents.
Rather than reduce waste, fraud and corruption in state government, this budget will push those obscene factors to new heights. Of course, the new Democratic Senate leader is fond of those corrupt former “leaders” who were convicted and went to jail. Expect more scandals from Madison.
