Roe v Wade JUST hit that slippery slope
Today the Supreme Court just took the first step to overturning Roe v Wade, the landmark decision that allowed safe and legal abortions for women.
Yahoo! News is reporting that on a 5-4 vote, the court upheld President George W. Bush’s inaptly named “partial birth abortion” act which outlaws a very rare procedure which is used in the later stages of pregnancy and in some cases to save the life of the mother.
Planned Parenthood spokesperson Eve Gartner said in a statement today:
“This ruling flies in the face of 30 years of Supreme Court precedent and the best interest of women’s health and safety. Today the court took away an important option for doctors who seek to provide the best and safest care to their patients. This ruling tells women that politicians, not doctors, will make their health care decisions for them.”
