The same President George W. Bush who didn’t care to help out victims of Hurricane Katrina 3 years ago is suddenly concerned for the folks in the gulf coast as Hurricane Gustav bears down on them.

Despite historically low approval ratings, President Bush and Vice President Cheney were scheduled to speak at Monday’s Republican National Convention. With democratic candidate Barack Obama running ads which link Bush and McCain, McCain has been desperate to find a way to unlink him from the sitting President.

Bush and Cheney are now planning to skip their speeches on Monday, they allege, to monitor the hurricane.

We’re supposed to believe that they now care? There are thousands upon thousands of people still living in trailers and still waiting for the federal aid Bush promised them post Katrina. It’s been 3 long years since Katrina. This new-found caring is so completely out of character for the pres and vp that their claim of concern eludes believability.
