Unexpected Crossover Voters
I didn’t see this coming. Apparently a whole bunch of Republicanville (Waukesha) voters are rumored to be crossing over to vote for Hillary because they’re afraid of Obama.
We’ll see what tonight brings. I would love to see a breakdown of where the votes came from by county.

Oh, you mean like this? http://fairlyconservative.com/national/thinking-about-a-voting-strategy/
There was a lot of talk about that Sunday on Meet the Press and other shows, generally about the idea that the best thing Republicans have going for them is Hillary, and that they think they can galvanize the party best in opposition to her.
It was also said, and I think these are sage words: Be careful what you wish for …
It’s not their year, not their time. Republicans understand that. They should be happy and satisfied that their eventual nominee, John McCain, is a person of integrity. His success in this election is something that Republicans should be very proud of — being smart without even thinking about it. It doesn;t happen much in politics, but it has in McCain’s case.
Republicans should feel good about their decision and stop worrying about politics and strategy, and Hillary. I’d be proud to know someone like John McCain.
Wouldn’t you?
I know a lot of people that crossed over…For different reasons. Not another Clinton in the White House; Obama is more liberal than Clinton; Clinton is beatable; etc. Crossover votes went both ways.
For you to state that you did not see this coming leads me to believe than you are just out of tune with the people in this area.
“The people of this area” vote overwhelmingly Democratic, period. If Republicans feel better about running against Hillary than they do running for McCain, it might be time to make the crossover permanent.
Really? They vote democrat? Then explain why Sensenbrenner, Ryan, and Walker all hold office because of voters in southeastern Wisconsin. The only eyesore is Gwen Moore…and a glaring one at that. I’m not saying that Wisconsin (or southeast Wisconsin) is Republican but we certainly have a fair amount of conservatives/Repubilcans in elected positions.
As a Republican a vote for McCain in the primary does nothing, you might as well start playing defense and crossing over to vote for the candidate you think McCain has the best chance of beating. I plan to vote for McCain in the general election so why waste my vote on him now in the primary? I did the same thing in 2004 in voting for Howard Dean in hopes that he’d be easier to beat. Fortunately John Kerry proved to be just as beatable.
Maybe Gwen could be barak’s running mate; they have identical qualifications.
Gwen Moore is the living affirmation of the Peter Principle.
Sensenbrenner and Ryan represent Milwaukee? And I didn’t realize people like Spencer Coggs and Chris Sinicki, Jim Sullivan, Mayor Barrett, the list goes on had switched parties. Scott Walker’s own neighborhood votes strongly Dem these days.
Sensenbrenner and Ryan represent parts of Milwaukee County, ergo Milwaukee. And Walker encompasses all of Milwaukee County. I’m just saying that Milwaukee isn’t as Democrat as you think. Now the City of Milwaukee, that’s something different.
Just don’t tell Sullivan, Plale, Lehman down in Racine and Wirch in Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie. Or Doyle, who won more than half the wards in Oak Creek and cleaned up in Kenosha and Racine. These guys are all under the impression that they are Democrats, and they do rather well in legislative races. Most would, however, likely agree that Paul Ryan is a sensible guy, well-liked by many Democratic voters in his district.
I have a feeling that many, many of the so-called “crossover” voters did so because they felt more comfortable in the Dem primary, where most of the energy and enthusiasm is these days; I don’t think they’ll cross back in November.
Uh, I hate to shatter your pipedream I’ll be crossing back over to the “right” side to vote in November…and so will a number of my conservative friends. Why waste a vote on McCain in the primary when you can start playing defense against the Dems?
