That’s ridiculous, Jim. It’s more important that we have a Clean Water Act, because contaminated drinking water can kill yo.. er.. yeah.

When the PATRIOT Act first came up, both the NRA and Sensenbrenner worked with the ACLU on removing the worst of it, and sunsetting more, before being doublecrossed by Hastert who brought the Senate version to a vote before the much improved unanimous House Judiciary text. Somewhere down the line the Busheviks put enough muscle on both the NRA and the Judiciary chair that the NRA was silent on renewal, while Sensenbrenner led the renewal fight.
